Oil, Gas, and Energy Resources

We know the oil and gas industry.  Ernest Bruchez has served as Chair of the Oil, Gas & Energy Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, and Mr. Bruchez personally mentored one of our newest partners, Joseph Briers.  We provide sound legal advice to our many oil and gas clients. We review title instruments and advise clients with respect to title issues. We assist in the review and preparation of critical documents, such as oil and gas leases, joint operating agreements, pooling declarations, unitization agreements, surface use agreement, water use agreement, and seismic survey permits.  There is virtually no part of the oil and gas business that we have not provided advice and assistance to our clients.  Our clients include mineral owners, land owners, royalty owners, independent oil companies, foundations, trusts, universities, non-profits,  and municipal and government agencies.

For years, we have litigated issues involving the ownership, operation, exploration, production, processing, transportation and taxation of oil, gas, and other natural resources.  We represent clients involved in petrochemicals, coal, electrical generation, wind energy, and pipeline construction, and the service components to these industries.  We represent clients in connection with a wide variety of oil and gas, natural resources, and energy-related legal matters, including:

  • Breach of implied covenants
  • Failure to develop, market, and protect against drainage
  • Bad faith pooling and unitization
  • Joint operating agreement disputes
  • Drainage claims
  • Producing well damage claims
  • Termination of oil and gas leases
  • Condemnation
  • Title Disputes
